| Dandruff (Pityriasis) is the excessive flaking of dead skin that form on the scalp. Although dandruff is mostly found on the scalp, there have been cases where it has been found on the eyebrows, chest, ears, and/or back. Some people, however, either chronically or as a result of certain triggers, experience an unusually large amount of flaking, which can be not only a visual nuisance, but is also often accompanied by redness and irritation. Dandruff is understood to be the result of a combination of factors. Contrary to believes, dandruff isn't caused by too much dry skin. It is triggered by overactive oil glands, excessive perspiration, food allergies, stress, or harsh shampoos. Dandruff problems tend to occur more frequently in people with oily skin and hair. Most cases of dandruf can be treated with a home remedy. Some people with severe dandruff may have Psoriasis or eczema. |
